- Enter your username and password.
- Then click on the “Login” button.
You will only have access to Outlook, not the rest of Office 365. You will also still be able to log into my.UQ to reset your Office 365 password.
3. UQ Webmail IMAP Settings
Most modern email software automatically configures your mail server settings when you enter your UQ account.
If your email software is out of date, you can manually enter the mail server settings using the following IMAP information:
- Server name: outlook.office365.com
- Username: uqusername@uq.edu.au
- Port: 993
- Encryption method: TLS
- Authentication method: OAuth2
SMTP setting information will appear automatically. POP settings are disabled by default.

4. How to activate your UQ email
To activate your UQ student email, click the email link in the my.UQ Dashboard.
After you click the UQ email link, you’ll be directed to a page where you can set up a password.
Your Office 365 account is a permanent account that you can access for life through the Microsoft Office 365 website. This means you can continue using it even after you graduate.

Once your account is activated, there are two ways you can check your UQ email:
- through the my.UQ dashboard

6. Checking UQ email on your phone
To set up your inbox on a mobile app, follow Microsoft’s set up instructions for Outlook for Android
Outlook for iPhone or iPad. Use your UQ student email address and email password during the setup process.

- Download the Outlook app from the App Store.
- Open the Outlook app.

8.1 Set up UQ email on Outlook 365 for the first time
An account set-up wizard will walk you through the process:
- Step 1: First Open your Outlook 365.
- Step 2: Your UQ email account should be automatically detected.
- Step 3: If not, enter your UQ account username in the ‘Email address’ field using the format username@uq.edu.au.
- Step 4: Click ‘Connect’ devices.
- Step 5: Select ‘Microsoft 365’ option.
- Step 6: Enter your UQ username and password in the UQ Authenticate window.
- Step 7: Then click ‘Login’ button.
- Step 8: When ‘Account successfully added’ message appears, click ‘Done’ button.
8.2 Set up UQ email on Outlook 365 after changing your account
If you have changed your email address or your name or you have a problem with Outlook that cannot be fixed otherwise, you may need to delete it and remove your account and reset Outlook.
- Step 1: Submit an IT request to remove your profile.
- Step 2: After your profile has been removed, open Outlook.
- Step 3: Enter a profile name and select ‘OK’ button.
- Step 4: This profile name can be anything.
- Step 5: Your UQ email account should be automatically detected.
- Step 6: If not, enter your UQ account username in the ‘Email address’ field using the format username@uq.edu.au.
- Step 7: Click ‘Connect’ button.
- Step 8: Select ‘Microsoft 365’ option.
- Step 9: Enter your UQ username and password in the UQ Authenticate window.
- Step 10: Then click ‘Login’.

- If you first enrolled after 24 March 2011, your UQ email address is firstname.lastnamexx@uq.net.au (where xx may be a number).
- If you first enrolled before 24 March 2011, your UQ email address is firstname.lastnamexx@uqconnect.edu.au (where xx may be a number).
You can request a change to the ‘firstname.lastnamexx’ part your email address.
There are also other email addresses attached to your account, which are used for administrative and software licensing purposes.
