Compassion Tanzania History
In 2007, Compassion Tanzania’s founders Pastor John Cook and Valerie Wilson Cook traveled to the Lake Victoria region of northern Tanzania with a missions group. The Cooks recognized that while the team was providing some relief, only access to clean water could result in sustainable improvement in the health and welfare of the people.
Upon returning to Montana, the Cooks attempted to partner with existing relief organizations to drill wells in the 6 villages they visited on their trip, but none were willing to drill in the area. Thus, Compassion Tanzania was formed to meet the need.
From the small beginning of drilling 2 deep borehole wells in 2008, to dedicating well number 64 in 2017, Compassion Tanzania, through its partners and donors have provided access to clean water, bringing hope to orphanages, schools and entire villages in the Name of Jesus Christ.
Compassion Tanzania Vision
Compassion Tanzania’s vision is to bring hope to the villages in Northern Tanzania.
Compassion Tanzania ’s plan is two-fold:
- to drill water wells that will provide clean water to all at no charge; and
- to support local pastors who minister to the spiritual and physical needs of the people.
Compassion Tanzania implements this plan by partnering with local leaders to assess and prioritize well application. Partnering with village leaders to form well maintenance committees. Hiring local professionals to drill the well, test the water, and install the hand pump.
Compassion Tanzania partners with local pastors to dedicate the well and report problems with the pump or the well. If a well is not functioning, Compassion Tanzania works with the village water committee and local professionals to repair or replace pumps or risers.

Hiring Range: $129,370.00 – $161,710.00PLEASE NOTE: The hiring range applies to US-based employment and may be higher in certain US geographic locations. Local salary structures will apply for candidates in other countries.
As the Principal Product Manager for Disaster Response, you will play a critical leadership role in establishing and delivering proactive and standardized product management for Compassion’s Disaster/Crisis Response global product. This will include being the lead and point person for the Global Partner Alliance (GPA), supporting them with the resources, tools, and critical information to help them serve their supporter neighbours during any/all disasters and major crises.
Reporting to the Director of Product Management for Targeted Response, you will serve as a leader among Global Marketing & Brand Experience’s (GMBX) global product group, owning and driving a combination of product management (assessing performance and making recommendations to improve it), product development (leading product development initiatives) and product marketing (enabling local teams with strategies/frameworks/tools to market products) for the ministry’s Disaster/Crisis Response global product.
Working closely with Disaster Resilience teams in Global Program, Risk, Legal, Finance, national office teams, and other functions, you will lead cross-functional efforts to coordinate and implement response strategies (e.g., fundraising, creative, servicing, communication, experience, etc.) in a dynamic environment where no two disasters/crises are the same.

- Lead product management effort for a complex, large-scale product to deliver customer expectations and organizational objectives.
