2. Activating a new ETSU account

1. To activate your ETSU account, go to etsu.edu/activate. 
2. You will be asked for your E number, the last four digits of your SSN, and your birth date. 
3. Once you provide your credentials, you will be presented with the list of your phone numbers and email addresses that we have on record. Choose either a phone number or email address to complete the second step of verifying your identity. 
4. A verification code will be sent to the selected phone or email. Enter the verification code into the website. 
5. After completing the verification steps, you will be able to set your account password. Be sure that the password you choose complies with the password policy. After a successful password submission, the system will display your username. 
6. Allow 15 minutes for the activation to take effect.
7. After activating your account, you can log into a etsu GoldLink, ETSU email, D2L, access your ETSU financial aid portal, etc.

3. How to reset your ETSU GoldLink password

To reset your ETSU Goldlink password, follow the steps below;

1. You can reset the password online at ETSU Activate Page. 
2. You will be asked for your E number, the last four digits of your SSN, and your birth date. 
3. Once you provide your credentials, you will be presented with the list of your phone numbers and email addresses that the University has on record. 
4. Choose either a phone number or email address to complete the second step of verifying your identity. 
5. A verification code will be sent to the selected phone or email. 
6. Enter the verification code into the website. 
7. You will be able to change your password. Passwords for all accounts must meet the following requirements.

• It must be at least 12 characters long.
• It must contain characters from at least 3 of these four categories:

           > Uppercase letters

            >Lowercase letters

           > Numbers

           > Symbols

• It cannot contain your username, first, middle or last name. For departmental accounts, it cannot include any parts of the display name.
•  It cannot be one of the last ten passwords that have been used on the account.

   8. Your ETSU account will automatically lock after several failed login attempts to ETSU networks and services. This happens as a result of attempting to log in with the wrong username or password information. This can occur if you type in false information or have a device (like a smartphone or tablet) that automatically attempts to access ETSU systems with an outdated password. If your account has become locked and you would like to have it unlocked, contact the Help Desk.

4. How to register for classes via ETSU GoldLink

To register for classes via ETSU Goldlink, follow the steps in the etsu goldlink login page.

1. Login to GoldLink.
2. Navigate to the Student page, then click on the Registration Tools Panel.
3. LAUNCH Schedule Builder to build your ideal schedule. Please visit the Schedule Builder page for instructions.
4. After building a potential schedule, click “Send to Shopping Cart” and leave it there until your First Available Registration Time begins.
5. Once your first available registration time begins, you will need to revisit Schedule Builder, confirm your class schedule once more, and send your final selections to the Schedule Builder Registration Cart.
6. Click the “Register” button to complete the registration process. If NO registration adds errors occur, your courses will display under the Current Schedule. NOTE: If you need to adjust, revisit the Add or Drop Classes page until you finalize your schedule.
7. To register for the correct classes, review your “Concise Student Schedule” on the student page. 
8. As a final step, you are required to confirm registration every semester you attend. After registering for classes, you must confirm through etsu GoldLink.

• Click on “Login to etsu GoldLink”
• Enter and submit login information
• Click on “Student”
• Click on “Student Account”
• Click on “Account Detail/Confirm Attendance/Payments and Refunds”

The university’s new safety app, called ETSU App, is now available to download for Apple and Android devices. This new feature offers many new services, including information on: 

• Reporting a tip
• Requesting a friend walk

In addition, with the ETSU App, a person’s location will be made available when an emergency call is made. The ETSU App has become the primary notification platform. There are two important steps each student, faculty and staff member should take immediately in order to prevent any lapse in receiving this important information.

STEP 1 - Download the App

Download ETSU App, if you have not done so already. You can find it in the App store or Google Play.

STEP 2 - Text to Subscribe

Text ETSU to 237233 to receive emergency text alerts.

To get the emergency text messages you must send a text message to the number above to enroll. If you only have the ETSU App, you can receive push notifications when an emergency message is sent if you allow them in your phone settings. Email updates are sent to all student, faculty, and staff accounts and notifications are sent to all campus desktops.

7. WHEN CAN I REGISTER?

Registration times are based off your EARNED CREDIT HOURS. Please view your Registration Status in etsu GoldLink to find out your first available registration time. Registration for Spring semesters occurs in November of the previous year, and registration for Summer and Fall semesters occurs in April of the same year. If you are required to attend orientation, you will register after being advised on your orientation day. If you are required academic advisement, you must meet with your advisor and have your advisement hold removed prior to registration.
