Get started with your UGA MyID account by reading this guide.

1. accounts@uga.edu is the address from which your email communication with the university will originate. Your secondary University email address is where this message will be sent.

As part of UGA's license with Microsoft, you have access to a Microsoft consumer account. This includes access to OneDrive (formerly called SkyDrive), Skype and other services. Office Web Apps are also available via your Microsoft consumer account under the Create tab on SkyDrive.

Anyone who was associated with the University on August 2, 2013, and had a UGAMail account was automatically given a Microsoft account.

Anyone who started with the University after August 2, 2013, doesn’t automatically have a Microsoft consumer account. You can request a Microsoft consumer account by registering with Microsoft.

You can continue to use OneDrive to store university files that do not contain sensitive or restricted data. There are a few important points to be aware of.

Microsoft will consider the new SkyDrive accounts to be a “personal account” being governed by the end-user license agreement (EULA) between Microsoft and the account holder.

University data — regardless of location or media — is the property of UGA and the State. State records, regardless of location or media are subject to Open Records Law. Individuals who have stored state records in SkyDrive will be required to produce them if an Open Records request occurs.

According to Microsoft, the new OneDrive environment will be governed by personal EULA and not a UGA/USG contract. Therefore, the use of OneDrive for the storage sensitive or restricted data is not permitted by UGA policy. Sensitive data may be stored in SendFiles if needed. Institutional File Store (IFS) is available for document storage, as well. OneDrive can continue to be used to store UGA documents as long as the documents do not contain sensitive or restricted data.

Why is my MyID account being disabled?

Your MyID is your key to access many campus IT services at the University of Georgia, including UGAMail, wireless networks and more.

Once you leave UGA, you are no longer eligible to use campus IT services, and you will lose access after a period of time.

Services you will lose access to include:

• UGAMail
• Office 365 applications and products connected to your @uga.edu email address
• Google Workspace
• PAWS-Secure and eduroam wireless networks
• vLab
• The Remote Access VPN
• Zoom
• Any service or application that requires you to log in with your MyID and password

You may get to keep your access for a short time after you leave UGA, depending on whether you were a student, faculty or staff member, or an affiliate account owner.

Students

About a year after you graduate or leave UGA, you will receive an email notifying you that your MyID account will be disabled and UGAMail mailbox will be deleted soon.

You do not have to do anything to ensure that your account access is removed. EITS periodically disables expired accounts to prevent unauthorized access to campus IT services.

Once your account access is removed, you will no longer be able to access UGAMail, campus wireless networks and other services that require a MyID and password. Forwarding your UGAMail to another address will no longer work.

If you know you are graduating soon or planning to leave UGA, there are a few steps you can take to prepare:

Establish a non-UGA email account. We recommend you use a non-UGA email for paying bills and applying for jobs, graduate school or professional school. Using a non-UGA email ensures you do not lose important contacts and emails. 

Migrate your contacts and archived email. If you have contacts or emails from your UGAMail account that you wish to keep, you should migrate these to another email account. Instructions for migrating contacts and email are available on the Help Desk site.

Change the primary contact email on any important account. If you have your UGAMail tied to any important account make sure you update the email contact to your non-UGA email.

Once you have graduated, you can access the UGA Career Center's job posting board, Handshake, by establishing an alumni account.

You can also stay in touch with the UGA Alumni Association by updating your information at alumni.uga.edu/myinfo.

Faculty and Staff

If you are a UGA faculty or staff member, your MyID account has no guarantees attached to it. 

Once you leave UGA for another job, your MyID will be disabled and UGAMail account will be deleted.

Sometimes, departments will request that an ex-employee's MyID be terminated immediately. These requests are handled on a case-by-case basis and require verification in order to process.

Retired Faculty and Staff

Retired UGA faculty and staff retain their MyID and UGAMail accounts. However, they are no longer eligible to keep Office 365 applications and products connected to their @uga.edu email address.

Affiliates and other MyID holders

Affiliate MyIDs are disabled once all active and qualifying UGA affiliations expire. EITS cannot update your UGA affiliation. How do I log in/out of Athena?

To log out, tap the portrait in the upper right corner next to the name and Sign Out. To register for courses and the University of Georgia, Students are encouraged to read through the registration guidelines, proceed to access Athena, and begin registration.

How do I enroll my students in archpass?

Students begin using ArchPass as soon as they are assigned an UGAMail address. Enter your UGA MyID and password. You can verify your ID with the Duo Mobile app, a text message or a phone call to your Duo-enrolled phone or tablet. You can enroll a phone or tablet through the Self-Service Portal.

How do I access UGAMail Calendar?

 UGAMail Calendar can be accessed via a web browser at:

• MyUGA Portal (http://my.uga.edu)
• UGAMail Homepage (http://ugamail.uga.edu/)

UGAMail Calendar can be accessed via properly configured email client or mobile app. You may be prompted to log in with ArchPass, UGA's two-step login solution, powered by Duo, if you are off campus.
