STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Education: Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.

  • Language: Fluency (level C) in English language.


ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These job holder reports to Head of Programme working under the close support and guidance, receiving guidance and regular feedback on work performed. Typically involved in programme or policy activities or similar nature and analytical work of limited complexity.

To provide support to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  •  Will be a WFP Liaison Officer in Zanzibar

  •  Represent World Food Programme (WFP) and contribute input to the Zanzibar Liaison Officers (ZLO) team.

  •  Liaise with the UN Resident Coordinators Office (RCO) through UN Liaison Officer based in Zanzibar.

  • Represent WFP and participate in all activities relevant to UN in general and WFP in particular as organized by the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (RGoZ) through relevant line Ministries.

  •   Roll out WFP Country Strategic Plan (CSP) specific activities to Zanzibar.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Provide WFP project management support to specific and defined programmes in Zanzibar.

  • Liaise with Government counterparts, NGOs, CSOs and media to ensure effective collaboration, monitor ongoing World Food Programme (WFP) projects.

  • Follow data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained for WFP activities.

  • Attend all UN activities where World Food Programme (WFP) is invited to participate.

  •  Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on World Food Programme (WFP) programmes and activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.

  • Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships to collaborative working with RGoZ, NGOs and CSO, leading to improved food and nutrition assistance, blue economy intervention packages.

  •  Support the capacity building of Government staff, NGO partners to prepare for and respond to food and nutrition assistance needs, disaster preparedness and response capacities.

  •  Perform other activities as required.

  • Broad Knowledge of Specialized areas (i.e. Nutrition, VAM, etc.) Demonstrates the ability to interpret basic data in the context of World Food Programme (WFP) specialised fields to contribute to technical programme design, implementation and monitoring.

  • Emergency Programming Displays capacity to provide inputs into the development, implementation and realignment of high quality emergency programmes.

  • Strategic Policy Engagement w/ Government Develops thorough recommendations using multiple inputs (e.g., government counsel, research, own experience) to strengthen national or subnational entities and government owned food and nutrition security programmes.
