Position: Legal Assistant – Head Quarter in Dar es Salaam
Department: Administration
Reporting to: The Board of Management
Viettel E-Commerce Ltd. (also known as Halotel) is a financial technology company specializing in digital payment system, e-commerce and financial services. The company provides its registered users platforms through which they can make financial transactions and payments to various merchants and financial institutions.
Responsibilities:
The purpose of the Legal Assistant is to monitor the compliance of the Company and assist the Board of Management in legal aspect of all relevant issues, liaison with members and the parent organizations of the Company, as well as other competent authorities and banks.
The duties of the Legal Assistant include but not limited to the following:
- Provide legal advice to the Company on a range of legal and commercial matters.
- Assist in the preparation and management of contracts, deeds, leases, or any other agreements made between the Company and other parties.
- Conduct research,
- Provide support and legal advice to the parent company, Viettel Tanzania PLC (also known as Halotel) in any matters between the two companies.
- Provide company secretarial support and general corporate law support to the Company.
- Monitor the compliance of the Company to related regulations and requirements by any competent authority.
- Monitor and keep a record of the Company’s portfolio, licenses and permits and track their renewal dues to ensure the operation and compliance of the Company.
- Perform general research and analysis of routine legal problems and issues.
- Assist in drafting, publishing and monitoring rules, regulations and policies of the Company.
- General administrative duties as required.

Requirements and skills
- A bachelor degree in law or equivalent.
- Proven working experience as Legal Assistant or Paralegal in a law firm or an in-house legal department.
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills.
- Ability to understand and interpret legal documents.
- High level of proficiency with Word and Outlook, experience with Excel and Power Point.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proactive, self-starter who is able to plan, organize and complete work with minimal supervision.
